I had an impromptu quiz about the herbs that are growing on the deck. They had to identify lovage, anise hyssop, tarragon, wheat grass and bronze fennel.



Had dinner w/friends on Sat night — it was wonderful. Duck burgers and crab salad were amazing highlights. Service was great. A fabulous introduction for me to a few days in the Seattle scene, and made a few locals new believers too!

I came across lovage for the first time as lovage tea when I visited the UK. They added brandy [which I thought was cool] and said it helps indigestion. Interesting how different cultures use different types of herbs.
